As a contractor you have to ensure that work under your control is planned, managed and monitored to ensure that it is carried out without risk to health and safety.
If you are working on a site where there is more than one contractor working, you need to coordinate your activities with other members of the team. This includes following instruction from the Principal Contractor.
On projects where you are the only contractor, you must prepare a Construction Phase (Health and Safety) Plan.
If working for a domestic Client and they fail to appoint a Principal Contractor, the duties of the Principal Contractor will fall to the contractor in control of the construction phase.
We have a team of construction safety professionals who can ensure your sites are safe and follow good practice and your documentation is compliant. See our competent person menu for more information.
